Photo Caption Contest: Fun with Fez
Indulge me in my need for Moroccan humor this weekend. Let’s try a photo caption contest. I have a set of 3 white vases to give away to the winner (see below). These are hand thrown Moroccan ceramics made in Salé by a guy (or perhaps a girl) named P. Souidi.
Obviously, I didn’t meet this person, but P. Souidi is probably awesome because there is a whole shop full of his/her work. Everyone else’s pottery tends to look the same. Beautiful, but the same. P. Souidi’s ceramics on the other hand tend to have a simple, contemporary look. But have no fear. If you love the traditional Moroccan designs, we will repeat this contest later with something beautifully and elaborately painted. To enter, simply post your caption in the comment box below.
A few rules:
1. Enter as frequently as you’d like through Wednesday March 27. Multiple entries are encouraged.
2. To be eligible to win, you must have a US mailing address or live in Rabat (sorry Tanzania friends).
3. Use a pseudonym if you wish, but you must include your email address in the appropriate box of the comment section. I am the only one who can see the email addresses. They will not be published and will only be used to contact the winner to arrange for prize delivery.
Winners will be posted here next Friday and I will contact he (or she) directly. First place gets the vases. Other winners get a virtual pat on the back.
Having the perfect sense of humor for this sort of thing, our lovely friends and neighbors have been appointed as judges (see their blog here). Judging will be blind. These folks have no clue who you are anyway. I’m not even sure the male counterpart knows he’s been enlisted in this exercise and that I’ve posted his picture on the internet, but that’s beside the point.
And finally, here is the photo. I know I have lots of hilarious friends and family out there, so get to work.
